Skin-Loving Ingredients

Image
So it's that time again folks!  Today I'm going to be talking about body lotion  and the various skin-loving ingredients that they're packed with and what each one does. As with all skincare products, body moisturisers are suited to certain skin types, but mostly they are formulated for dry to very dry skin. It's important to moisturise your whole body, as well as your face, because the environment can be very damaging to the skin and dry it out. Therefore it is important to hydrate the skin in order to replace the moisture that's been lost throughout the day. I tend to use body lotion after a shower as the skin is clean and the pores are open, which helps to lock in moisture for longer. I also use body lotion after a swim, as chlorine is a chemical which can also dry out the skin, so I make sure to always moisturise the next day as a way of preventing that from happening. Nighttime is also a good time to moisturise as the skin needs time to recover from t...

Face Masks... Do They Work?

Image
So today I will be discussing the wonderful world of face masks! :)  For those of you who have never tried them, they are basically formula s with different ingredients which do different things, such as moisturising, deep cleansing, anti-blemish, nourishing, refreshing etc. As I have stated in previous posts it's all about finding the right one for your skin type and skincare needs. For example, I have a mud mask which is anti-blemish and targets oily spot prone skin (more on that later!). Face masks are usually a weekly skincare solution and should by no means be a substitute for washing your face. Most masks will clearly state that you should cleanse your skin before  applying it.  There are so many different varieties of face masks with different formulas and ingredients. I find that the most skin-friendly ones have ingredients derived from natural extracts, as they are gentler on the skin. Too many chemical nasties are damaging and may cause an allergic reac...

My Daily Skincare Routine

Hi guys! :) In today's post I will be talking you through my daily skincare routine. I hope that by explaining my routine it will give you a rough guideline as to the type of products you should include in your own one, as well as the order in which you need to apply them.  So here is my skincare routine, step by step... Morning:- Step 1: I start the day by using my Simple (Spotless Skin) Triple Action Face Wash . It's in a gel/scrub-like formula which I apply to wet skin then rinse off with warm water before patting my face dry. It's made up of 3 spot fighting ingredients: ZINC PCA to absorb excess oils, Chamomile which is skin soothing anti-irritant, and Witch Hazel for toning and tightening pores. This brand is ideal for sensitive and oily skin and leaves my face feeling fresh, purified and super soft! The only downside for me is that it doesn't lather, however that is just my personal preference. Step 2: Next I apply Nivea Purifying Tone...

Skincare Secrets

Welcome to my beauty blog!  I decided to create this blog to share my skincare tips and knowledge with you all. I believe that feeling beautiful comes from within and that starts with your skincare routine. Some of you may be thinking " Surely washing my face is enough?" This couldn't be further from the truth! Good skincare habits include cleansing , toning , moisturising and  exfoliating . It is not enough to simply wash your face . It needs alot of pampering and prepping. Lack of a good skincare regime can be damaging to the skin and can leave you with with clogged pores from oil and dirt build up, which can then lead to problem skin.  Here's a quick breakdown of the different steps for good skincare: Cleansing:- Morning- Cleansing should be done first thing after you wake up. This includes investing in a facial wash. These can come in many different formulas such as cream, gel, scrub and foam. They also make facial washes for different skin types inc...
