My Daily Skincare Routine
Hi guys! :)
In today's post I will be talking you through my daily skincare routine. I hope that by explaining my routine it will give you a rough guideline as to the type of products you should include in your own one, as well as the order in which you need to apply them.
So here is my skincare routine, step by step...
Morning:-
Step 1: I start the day by using my Simple (Spotless Skin) Triple Action Face Wash. It's in a gel/scrub-like formula which I apply to wet skin then rinse off with warm water before patting my face dry. It's made up of 3 spot fighting ingredients: ZINC PCA to absorb excess oils, Chamomile which is skin soothing anti-irritant, and Witch Hazel for toning and tightening pores. This brand is ideal for sensitive and oily skin and leaves my face feeling fresh, purified and super soft! The only downside for me is that it doesn't lather, however that is just my personal preference.
Step 2: Next I apply Nivea Purifying Toner to my face and neck with a cotton pad (no rinsing required). It's made with Ocean Algae and Hydra IQ to tone and purify the skin whilst reducing excess sebum to prevent shine. This product is formulated for combination to oily skin and it smells amazing! Since using it my pores look smaller and my face feels soothed and refreshed. I have nothing bad to say about this product and it's my favourite toner that I've used so far!
Step 3: I then use my Witch Blemish Stick on any new spots or marks. It leaves a tingling feeling on my skin which shows its soothing properties. The main ingredient is Witch Hazel which is a natural anti-bacterial and helps to break down excess oil. Although it's not made for sensitive skin I have found it to be fairly gentle and have never had any problems using it. It says to dab on as often as required, however I find that once a day is enough. I've gone through several of these sticks within the last couple of years and have found it very effective for reducing the appearance of marks. Depending on how often you apply it, a single blemish stick can last up to 6-8 weeks. I have no negative feedback on this product as it's the only blemish stick I will use due to how effective it is.
Step 4: After zapping my spots with my blemish stick I apply my Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturiser. The formula is oil free so that it doesn't clog the pores and I've found that a little goes a long way. This product is ideal for oily spot prone skin and leaves the skin feeling soft and firm. I've tried several moisturisers over the years and have found this to be the best one within my budget. All the other ones were either too greasy or left my skin shiny. It also comes in a generous 100ml tube as opposed to the other ones which were only 75ml, hence why it lasts so long. My only criticism is that it takes awhile to absorb into the skin so you need to wait a few minutes before applying makeup.
Night:-
Step 1: Taking off my makeup
Part 1- First I remove my eye makeup using Garnier (Pure Active) Micellar Cleansing Water by wiping a cotton pad lightly over the eye area. This product uses micellar technology to attract dirt like a magnetic and draw impurities out of the skin. This micellar water is formulated for oily skin and purifies as well as cleansing. You can buy this product in a 400ml bottle which lasts for several months depending on how much you use. I only use this for removing eye makeup, so it's been known to last up to 6 months (give or take). I've used micellar water for awhile but only just discovered that Garnier did one targeted at oily spot prone skin, so I changed from the original to this one. It's very gentle on the eye area, however I've often found that it doesn't remove all traces of makeup.
Part 2- Next I remove the rest of my makeup with my B.Pure Sensitive Micellar Cleansing Wipes. They are quilted to gently remove makeup and cleanse the skin with various skin loving ingredients including Witch Hazel, Vitamin E, Aloe and cucumber to refresh and sooth. I find these wipes to be very gentle and leave my skin feeling soft and cleansed. The only criticism I have is that they only remove makeup from the surface of the skin which means that they're not very good at unclogging pores or removing excess dirt.
Step 2: Once I've removed all my makeup I then move onto my Clean & Clean Deep Cleansing Lotion. This has been a staple in my skincare regime for awhile now as it is so effective at removing excess dirt and oil, as well as any traces of makeup. I use a cotton pad to sweep the lotion over my face, neck and behind my ears, where dirt can build up during the day. I'm abit lazy in the evenings and use this product instead of washing my face, however it cleanses so deep into the pores that I don't feel like I need to. It simultaneously tones the skin by tightening the pores and refreshing the skin. I love this product so much as you can always see that it's removed the dirt and oil from your skin, which is why this is the only product I will use at night to deeply cleanse and tone my skin. It also leaves your skin with a minty fresh feeling, which shows that it's done its job!
Step 3: I then apply a thin layer of Witch Overnight Clearing Serum, using my fingers to gently massage it into the skin. It's a cream formula which absorbs well and reduces the appearance of spots and marks during the night. I started using this product about 4 or 5 months ago when my usual Superdrug Deep Action Overnight Serum went out of stock. Although it was abit more expensive I found that it worked well with my Witch Blemish Stick and cleared the spots on my face within a couple of days, before disappearing completely within a week or 2. Although I still get the occasional spot, this serum is very effective at getting rid of them quickly. As a result, even though my old serum is back in stock, I will still repurchase this product as it really does do what it says on the tin!
Step 4: The last thing I do before bed is reapply my Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturiser to add an additional layer of protection against new spots appearing and to act as an anti-bacterial for my skin. It also replenishes the moisture barrier for extra softness!
So that is my daily skincare routine in a nutshell... a lengthy nutshell, haha! I hope this post has given you an insight into my world and inspired you to tweak or add to your own skincare regime. Let me know what products you use in the comments, as well as any tips and tricks of your own :)
Bye for now!
