Skincare Diary: The Ordinary Niacinamide 5% Skin and Body Emulsion

Image
Hello my beauties!!! It's been a hot minute since I did a 7 day skincare diary on a new product but my skin has been very sensitive and fussy over the past year. No matter what active ingredient I try to use my skin just can't seem to handle it. Which is ashame as I used to love exfoliating 3 times a week and regularly used niacinamide, alpha arbutin and vitamin C derivatives. However since I damaged my skin barrier a year and a half ago my skin just hasn't been the same. The only active ingredient I currently use is niacinamide which is known for it's barrier strengthening and redness reducing properties. I've been using this serum every other morning to prevent irritation from overuse. Here are my honest thoughts and opinions from using this product for 7 days in a row... Reason for purchase:  Wanted to try a gentle serum with an active ingredient that wouldn't cause redness or irritation. I liked that it was a low percentage of niacinamide and came in a 100...

Another 6 Months of Empties!

Image
Hello my beauties!!! 😊😊😊 So I'm back with another 'Empties' post after 6 months... Where does the time go??? As I said last time my skin barrier is still recovering from over-exfoliation and I still can't use actives such as Vitamin C or alpha arbutin 😞 I tried reintroducing Vitamin C for a few weeks but my skin would get irritated and red so I stopped using it. I also tried exfoliating again with the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Toner with BHA and AHA. However every time I used it I'd get all these tiny pimples on my skin which I'd pick and then my skin got inflamed. I've really had enough of my unpredictable and super sensitive skin! I've tried taking it super slowly with actives but my skin still chooses to have a breakdown whenever I try anything with actives- even at low percentages 😓 I seriously wish my skin would get back to normal already! Anyway, rant aside, let's just get straight into the products I've been using... Aq...

6 Months of Empties!

Image
Hello my beauties!!!  😊😊😊 So today I've got another 'Empties' blog post for you which includes all the products I've been using over the last 6 months. I had a damaged skin barrier for a few of those months so I stripped my routine right back and only used cleanser and moisturiser for 6 weeks. It's been a hard graft but I feel like my skin is slowly getting back to "normal", although I still can't use actives or anything with fragrance 😞 On a more positive note I'm going to give you a run down of all the products I've been using and loving- plus a few that were total fails. I'll be reviewing them in order of application (cleanser, toner, serum, moisturiser and sunscreen). So let's just dive right in...! Aqua Sens Cooling Mist Spray (x3): There's not much to say about this other than it being the perfect mist for dampening the face between products, such as serums. It is cool and refreshing and helps all my other products to ab...

8 Months of Epic Empties

Image
Hello my beauties!!! 😄😄😄 After 8.5 months since my last empties post I've finally got my bum into gear and decided to do a round up of all the products I've used up during that time 😛 A few of them are holy grails and repurchases whereas as others are newer additions. I'v e grouped together the products by category (cleanser, toner, serum, moisturiser, sunscreen etc), so let's just dive right in...! Aqua Sens Cooling Mist Spray (x7): Can you tell that I love this product??? 😂 Great water mist for dampening my face between products (8/10, WRP) Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (normal version and combination version x1): I love these micellar waters as they are so gentle yet effective at removing eye makeup. However, I do notice that the next day I'm left with some mascara residue under my eyes. Simple product but it does the job! (8/10, WRP) Simple Micellar Gel Wash: I used this as my morning cleanser and found it to be very gentle and refreshing. It's a n...

Product Review #4

Image
Hello my beauties!!! 😊😊😊 Welcome back to another installment of my Product Review series! I can't believe it's been over a year since I last did a post like this 😯 Here are 4 products that I've been trying out over the last 5 months and my honest reviews on each of them. I've put them in the order that I started using them from, so let's get started... Farmstay Black Snail Premium Rolling Eye Serum Used for:  5 months R easons for purchase:  I bought this eye serum on holiday in Spain as I'd never tried it before and have enjoyed snail in the past. I also thought the roller ball application would be relaxing and easy to apply under my eyes. My thoughts:  This is a a perfectly fine eye serum which has a gel-like consistency. There's a hint of fragrance but it doesn't seem to irritate my undereye area at all. I'm not sure about the roller balls as I don't think it adds alot to the overall experience of applying the product. It does make it l...

Seven Months of Empties!

Image
Hello my lovelies!!! :) I finally decided to get all my empties together and write another empties post for you guys! I had no idea that I had collected so many :O I've grouped them in order of category and application: cleansers, toners, serums, moisturisers and SPF (plus lip balm, eyecream and a few travel minis). I'm going to be giving you my honest thoughts and opinions on each product, as well as ranking them and whether I would repurchase or not. So let's just get straight into it... Simple Micellar Cleansing Water: This is a perfectly fine cleanser for eye makeup however it's not very good at removing waterproof mascara. I've since moved onto the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water for oily/combination skin. It performs the same but is slightly more effective (7/10, MRP) La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water: I've gone through several of these cans as a way of misting my face before applying toners and serums. I find that they absorb alot better into the ski...

Battle of the Morning Moisturisers!

Hey guys!!! :) So for quite awhile now I've been looking for a Holy Grail moisturiser for the morning. I find that I like a lightweight gel cream in the AM and a thicker moisturiser in the PM. I had previously been using the Hydro Boost Water Gel in the AM for a year but I soon became bored of it. So I decided to try and find something better or equal to it. Well let me tell you... it's been a journey! I feel like I've tried most of the affordable lightweight creams on the market. Half of them were Western brands (Elf, No7, Nivea and The Inkey List) and the others were Korean. There's been a few hits and misses but I thought I'd write this post to help me decide which one to keep in my morning routine. Hopefully, through abit of analysis, I can break down which ones were successful and why. I'll list the products in the order that I used them. So without further ado, let's dive right in!   Elf Superhydrate Moisturiser First started using: 10/07/21 Review:  ...
