Hello my beauties!!!
So today I decided to do a different kind of post reviewing all the products that I've emptied over the last 7 months. I've been saving all my bottles especially so I could do detailed reviews of each product for you guys. A few of these I love and have repurchased, and some have been swapped for other products that I'm trying out. There are also 2 products which I probably won't be repurchasing any time soon! I'm going to be talking about each product in the order that I started using them. So let's get straight into it...
Avene Cleanance Mattifying Sunscreen SPF 50+: This sunscreen is non greasy and dries completely matte, which I love! It's also in a pump bottle which means that you use the same amount every time. I've found that 2 pumps is enough for both my face and neck. However, it takes awhile to blend in and even then it still leaves a white cast (6/10, WNRP*)
Purito Centella Unscented Serum (repurchased x2): This product has been abit hit and miss for me as it started off as a replacement for my trusty TO Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum. I started using this instead as it's a lower percentage of niacinamide (5%) and has soothing centella, as well as peptides for anti aging. But I must admit, although this stuff helps to balance my oily skin, I'm not sure I like the consistency. It has a watery gel texture whereas I prefer a thicker, more viscous serum. However I haven't managed to find a centella serum that I like better or works as well, so I'll continue to repurchase it and hope the formula grows on me lol (8/10, WRP*)
Iunik Propolis Vitamin Synergy Serum (repurchased x1): I tried a travel size (15ml) of this as an alternative to TO Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% as I liked that it contained a natural form of Vitamin C (sea buckthorn) and propolis. I've heard that propolis is anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and has wound healing properties. It also contains niacinamide and witch hazel which are good for oil control. This serum is a medium weight consistency and spreads easily across the skin. The only down side is that it takes a few minutes to fully absorb but once it has it leaves the skin feeling plump and smooth. Since finishing the travel size I have purchased the full size bottle as I really enjoyed using it (9/10, WRP)
Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence (repurchased x1): I started off by buying the travel size (50ml) as I wanted to test it out before I invested in the full size bottle. This essence contains galactomyces which is known for its brightening and anti-aging properties. It also has lots of soothing ingredients like aloe vera and centella extract, as well as witch hazel. I found this to be a very calming essence with a whisper of hydration, as well as oil balancing. I did find that it smells slightly chemically, however I've already purchased the full size... despite having 3 other essences to try out! (8/10, MRP*)
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (repurchased x2): I wasn't sure about this cleanser to begin with as it doesn't lather, however I've found that it's the perfect morning cleanser as it's super gentle. I did try using it in the evening as well but I felt like it didn't give me a deep enough cleanse. I like how it doesn't strip my skin and is very moisturising. I've bought 2 regular sized bottles and am currently using the 473ml bottle which I'm halfway through and have been using for the past 5 months. I've decided to try the Rovectin Skin Essentials Conditioning Cleanser when I finish this bottle as it has a slight lather which I prefer. Although I might just go back to this cleanser as it's affordable and comes in a bigger size which lasts forever! (7/10, MRP)
The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA (repurchased x1): This serum has been life changing in regards to fading my acne scars. I was previously using AHA's and Vitamin C for this purpose but I heard that alpha arbutin was also effective for fading PIH*. After about a month I already noticed that my acne was clearing up quicker and my scars were healing faster. A little goes a very long way and I only apply it to my face where my acne scars are. I cannot praise this product enough... it's definitely become holy grail status for me and I've already purchased the 60ml bottle. Love love love! (10/10, WRP)
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel (repurchased x2): I fell in love with this over a year ago and have been using it ever since. I love the light gel consistency and how quickly it absorbs into the skin. It leaves my skin feeling so smooth and hydrated, however it doesn't add any moisture. Because of this I only use it in the morning as it's super lightweight and not at all occlusive, which you need in the PM to prevent TEWL*. I recently bought the Bonajour Green Tea Water Bomb as I've been getting slightly bored of the Water Gel. It's another gel-based moisturiser with the addition of green tea and peptides. It's also better value for money as it's in a 100ml tube, however I might still go back to the Water Gel in the future as I've enjoyed it in the past (8/10, MRP)
Neutrogena Hydroboost Sleeping Cream (repurchased x3): 100% holy grail status!! I bought this for the first time last summer and have loved it ever since! It's the most gorgeous thick gel texture that just melts into the skin. It immediately fills my skin with moisture and feels so luxurious and velvety. I cannot put into words how much I love this moisturiser. I think I will use this for the rest of my life! (10/10, WRP)
Iunik Tea Tree Relief Serum: I bought this in the travel size (15ml) as I wanted to see if I could find a better morning serum to replace my Purito Centella Unscented Serum. However I immediately disliked the thin watery formula and the fact that it took so long to absorb into the skin. I found that when I applied it with the dropper it would run down my face and when I used my hands it would drip through my fingers. This meant that I used it up within about 5 weeks due to the runny consistency. Its benefits are that it is very calming and soothing due to the 19.5% centella extract, as well as providing effective oil control (3/10, WNRP)
Missha Aqua Sun Gel SPF 50++++ (repurchased x3): This sunscreen has very high sun protection and is really easy to blend into the skin, meaning very little white cast. I sometimes find that this is moisturising enough by itself as it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth. It dries completely matte which I love and doesn't feel at all greasy. I do find the scent to be a little bit odd, however I've definitely got used to it. Occasionally it will pill if I don't let my moisturiser fully absorb first but this normally isn't an issue if I wait 5-10 minutes between steps. Unfortunately this product has been discontinued so I've bought 3 back-ups (9/10, Discontinued)
Eucerin Acute Lip Balm (repurchased x3)- This is my go-to lip balm for moisturising my lips at night and I find it to be very occlusive. It's non greasy and absorbs really well. Holy grail status for sure! (9/10, WRP)
I hope you enjoyed this style of post and I will continue to save my bottles so I can do more empties posts in the future! It's been super fun to see how many products I've got through in the past 7 months and which ones were hits or misses. Also whether I would repurchase each product, go back to an old one or move onto a new one. Keep your eyes peeled for more product reviews as well as a Vitamin C serum comparison review!
Who Cares, We Care, Skincare :)
