Pixi Beauty Review

Hi there!! :)

Today's blog post is about my personal review of  the Pixi Beauty products that I've tried and tested over the past few weeks. I've always wanted to try their products as I saw them on the Birchbox website when I was subscribed to their monthly beauty box. However I never got the opportunity to try them. Then I noticed that Boots sold their skincare range but the price point was too high for me. Recently, however, the Pixi Beauty products have been reduced, so I just had to try a few of them! I decided to try the Rose Glow Mist, Glow Tonic and Nourishing Lip Polish. Here is my honest opinion of them...

Rose Glow Mist

What it does: Packed with fatty acids and antioxidants it moisturises skin, improves elasticity and protects against free radicals. It also adds a dewy finish/glow and can be used before and/or after makeup to hydrate, smooth and moisturise.
Ingredients: Rose Oil (moisturise and restore), Argan Oil (hydrates and smoothes) and Avocado Oil (fatty acids and antioxidants).

Verdict: Initially I was really excited to try this product as I've been using facial mists for a few months and wanted to achieve a healthy, natural glow. However, although it added a glow to my skin, by the end of the day my skin was really oily- more so than usual- and just looked really shiny. I was really disappointed as I'd had high expectations for this product. Instead I've been using it at night to lock in all the moisture and ingredients from my nighttime routine.
Rating: 3/10

Nourishing Lip Polish

What it does: This is a exfoliating lip balm which is designed to renew and smooth. The massage applicator is meant to stimulate circulation to give a plumped effect.
Ingredients: Apricot Oil (moisturise and soften), Grapefruit Oil (stimulating and antioxidant-rich) and Shea Butter (deeply nourishes).

Verdict: I really wanted to try this lip balm as I'd been watching YouTube videos on skincare and the girls on there were using lip masks and scrubs in their night routine, so I thought I'd find one for mine. This seemed to fit the brief with it's exfoliating applicator and nourishing/smoothing ingredients. I've been using this for about a month and haven't noticed a big difference in the softness of my lips, except that I no longer wake up with dry lips. However I don't think it is worth it's retail price at £14 and I won't ever be repurchasing as I can't justify spending that much money on a lip balm.

Glow Tonic

What it does: This is an exfoliating toner which is formulated to brighten and smooth in order to reveal healthy, glowing skin.
Ingredients: 5% Glycolic Acid

Verdict: I've been wanting to try this toner forever as I had never used glycolic acid before and was intrigued by its exfoliating properties. From watching YouTube skincare videos I know that it's an AHA as well as a chemical exfoliant. However, the first time I used this product my skin went beetroot red and it really irritated my skin. It didn't sting but my skin obviously wasn't used to it, so I decided to use it every few days rather than every night. The next time I used it my skin was fine and the third time it only went slightly red as I put a bit more product on the cotton pad. Luckily I've found that by using it a few times a week my skin has built up a tolerance for glycolic acid and no longer irritates it. I definitely won't be repurchasing but at least I got to try it :)
Rating: 7/10

In conclusion, I was quite disappointed in the products as I'd heard a lot of good things about Pixi Beauty online. On the plus side, the packaging is great and the ingredients are natural- other than glycolic acid- but the products are way overpriced for the results you achieve. However, this is just my experience of the brand and other people might get better results from using the products long term. This is only over a period of a month and I will continue to use them as my skin may adjust to them but I will not be repurchasing after I've finished with them. It was more down to curiosity that I tried them, as well as being on offer haha. I'd love to know if any of you have tried Pixi products and what your experience was like, so feel free to leave a comment below! :)
